Ruins and Castles
Metz preserves a significant array of medieval military architecture, most notably the 13th-century Porte des Allemands, a fortified bridge-castle spanning the Seille river. This collection features various remnants of the city's defensive walls, including the 15th-century circular Tour Camoufle and the crenelated Grenier de Chèvremont. Visitors can explore various defensive towers and the ruins of the Église Saint-Livier, illustrating the city's evolution from a Roman stronghold to a heavily fortified medieval power.
Tour du Temple de Garnison
The 97-meter-high Neo-Gothic bell tower is the only surviving remnant of a 19th-century Protestant garrison church.

A fortified municipal granary built in 1457, featuring Gothic architecture and crenelated walls used for grain storage.
