Iconic Mountain Peaks

This collection highlights the diverse topography of Mount Rainier National Park, featuring the 14,411-foot active stratovolcano and its surrounding summits. The list includes prominent features like Little Tahoma, a remnant of the mountain's ancient structure, and Liberty Cap on the summit dome. It also features lower-elevation peaks and gaps, such as Tolmie Peak and Gobblers Knob, which house historic fire lookouts, and Steamboat Prow, a significant rock cleaver separating the Winthrop and Emmons Glaciers.

Little Tahoma

A prominent volcanic plug and satellite peak on the eastern flank of Mount Rainier. At 11,138 feet, it is the third-highest point in Washington and a remnant of the volcano's larger prehistoric profile.

Steamboat Prow

A rock formation resembling a ship's bow, located at 9,702 feet. It serves as a wedge dividing the Winthrop and Emmons Glaciers and is the site of the Camp Schurman climbing camp.

Liberty Cap

A subsidiary peak on the northwestern side of Mount Rainier’s summit dome. Reaching 14,112 feet, it is one of the highest points on the massif, separated from the main Columbia Crest by a shallow saddle.

Gobblers Knob

A 5,485-foot peak in the park's southwest corner. It features a historic fire lookout tower providing views of the Tahoma Glacier and the Puyallup River valley.
