Wilderness Huts & Shelters

This network of mountain cabins and emergency shelters spans the rugged border region between Narvik, Norway, and Sweden. Managed primarily by the DNT (Norwegian Trekking Association) and Statskog, these sites provide essential infrastructure for long-distance hikers on the Nordkalottruta and E1 trails. The collection includes high-altitude cabins like Cáihnavággihytta and strategically placed rest stops like the Stuor Kärpel emergency shelter, offering amenities ranging from wood-burning stoves to emergency communication tools.
