Scenic Hikes & Viewpoints

This collection features prominent Norwegian landmarks, from the high-altitude Dalsnibba plateau at 1,500 meters to the 11 hairpin bends of the Trollstigen mountain road. It includes the 182-meter Vøringsfossen waterfall and the Bøyabreen glacier branch in Fjærland. Accommodations range from the remote Sollia wilderness hut in Trollheimen to the rail-accessible Finsehytta on the Hardangervidda plateau. These locations provide strategic vantage points over Geirangerfjord and urban panoramas from Grefsenkollen in Oslo and Turisthytta in Bodø.

Trollstigen

A mountain road featuring 11 hairpin bends and a steep 9% gradient. The architectural viewpoint overlooks the valley and the Stigfossen waterfall.

Vøringfossen

Vøringsfossen is the 83rd highest waterfall in Norway on the basis of total fall.

Dalsnibba

A mountain plateau 1,500 meters above sea level. The Geiranger Skywalk platform provides views of the Geirangerfjord and the surrounding peaks of the Sunnmøre Alps.

Trollstigen og Stigfossen

This site combines the famous mountain pass with Stigfossen, a waterfall that drops 240 meters down the mountainside toward the Isterdalen valley.

Flydalsjuvet

A canyon viewpoint overlooking the Geirangerfjord. It features several viewing platforms and the "Fjordsetet" installation, inaugurated by Queen Sonja.

Bøyabreen

An easily accessible branch of the Jostedalsbreen glacier. The ice sits above a glacial lake in the Fjærland region of Sogn og Fjordane.

Vangen

A serviced mountain lodge in Østmarka, near Oslo. It serves as a hub for hiking and skiing trails, located on the shores of Mosjøen lake.

Turisthytta

A functionalist-style building in Bodø. The location serves as a viewpoint for the city, the Lofoten Wall, and the midnight sun during summer months.

Sollia

A self-service wilderness hut located in the Trollheimen mountain range, managed by the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT).

Grefsenkollen

A 379-meter peak in the Lillomarka forest. It features a historic restaurant built in 1926 and provides panoramic views of Oslo and the Oslofjord.

Tippetue

A viewpoint on Mount Fløyen in Bergen. It is situated along a historic zigzagging trail and offers views of the city center and harbor.

Finsehytta

A mountain lodge situated at 1,223 meters on the Hardangervidda plateau. It is accessible via the Bergen Line railway and serves as a base for glacier trekking.

Nordre Stange Varde

A 290-meter peak and observation point in Indre Østfold. The site features a wooden tower providing views toward the Swedish border.
