Historic Heritage Sites

Goeree-Overflakkee features a distinct architectural landscape shaped by maritime history and traditional Dutch engineering. This collection includes the 14th-century Dorpskerk in Ouddorp and the 39.5-meter-high Toren van Goedereede, which historically served as both a church tower and a maritime beacon. The list also highlights industrial heritage through the Windvang and De Zwaan windmills, alongside the active Westhoofd lighthouse and Het Blaeuwe Huus, a preserved 17th-century dune farm and national monument.

Vuurtoren Westhoofd

An active lighthouse located in Ouddorp, characterized by its square brick construction. It serves as a navigational aid for shipping in the North Sea and at the entrance to the Grevelingen.

Toren van Goedereede

The Toren van Goedereede is a gray square brick tower in Goedereede, Netherlands, 39.5 metres high, belonging to the Catharina church.

Catharinakerk

A Protestant parish church in Goedereede. This historic building is closely linked to the adjacent 14th-century tower and represents the religious heritage of the Goeree-Overflakkee peninsula.

Dorpskerk, Ouddorp

The Dorpskerk also known as the Maartenskerk in Ouddorp was completed in 1348 and is situated in the town's centre.

Windvang

A traditional round stone windmill used for grinding grain. Located in Goedereede, this historic structure stands as a well-preserved example of Dutch industrial engineering on the island.

De Zwaan

A historic flour mill located on the Dorpsweg in Ouddorp. This traditional 'stellingmolen' remains a prominent feature of the local landscape and reflects the agricultural history of the region.

Duinboerderij "Het Blaeuwe Huus"

A 17th-century dune farm in Ouddorp designated as a national monument. Known for its traditional blue-painted exterior, it serves as a rare surviving example of historic agricultural architecture in the coastal dunes.
