Cotopaxi National Park Essentials

Cotopaxi National Park centers on one of the world's highest active volcanoes, reaching an elevation of 5,897 meters. This protected area features the dormant, eroded peak of Rumiñahui and high-altitude paramo ecosystems. Visitors can explore the Mariscal Sucre Visitor Center, hike to the Refugio José Rivas at 4,864 meters, or visit Pucará de Salitre, a pre-Inca military fortress.
