Historical Castles and Ruins

Explore the diverse fortifications and residences along the Dyje river within the Podyjí-Thayatal border region. Znojmo Castle

Historic castle with origins reaching back to the 4th millennium BC that later served as a defensive stronghold, mint and residence of regional margraves. Parts of the complex house the Znojmo Museum with permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Nový Hrádek

Ruined double castle featuring remains of 14th-century Gothic and 15th-century Renaissance fortifications. Situated in the core zone of Podyjí National Park, the site provides views of the Dyje river meanders and is accessible via marked hiking trails.

Mniszkův kříž

A 19th-century memorial cross dedicated to Polish nobleman Count Stanislav Mniszek. The monument stands on a rocky lookout point offering views of the Dyje valley and the Vranov nad Dyjí Chateau.
