Randa Essentials

Randa serves as a gateway to some of the Swiss Alps' most formidable peaks, including the 4,545-meter Dom and the pyramid-shaped Weisshorn. The village is home to the Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge, a 494-meter span on the Europaweg trail. Visitors can explore the debris field of the massive 1991 rockslides, visit the traditional Lorihiischi museum, or play at the high-altitude Golf Club Matterhorn. It is a central hub for hikers accessing the Europa and Weisshorn mountain huts.

Randa rockslides

In April and May 1991, two consecutive rockslides occurred from a cliff above the town of Randa in the Matter valley of Switzerland.
