Monuments and Memorials
Rostov-on-Don’s public landscape is defined by monuments spanning from the imperial era to the Soviet period. This collection features the iconic Tachanka-Rostovchanka at the city's southern gateway, the 72-meter-high Stele to the Liberators of Rostov, and the 19th-century Alexander Column. These landmarks commemorate pivotal historical events, including the 1902 general strike and the Great Patriotic War, alongside sculptures like Don Batyushka that celebrate the regional identity of the Don Cossacks.

Memorial complex in the Zheleznodorozhny district commemorating the general strike of 1902. The monument features a high-relief group of workers and is situated on a hill overlooking the railway tracks where the historical events occurred.

A 72-meter-high stela on Teatralnaya Square dedicated to the soldiers who liberated Rostov-on-Don from Nazi occupation in 1943. The monument is topped with a gilded statue of the Greek goddess Nike and features an eternal flame.
Tacanka
Erected in 1977 at the southern entrance to the city, this massive sculpture depicts a machine gun carriage drawn by four horses. It commemorates the First Cavalry Army's role in the Russian Civil War.
Bogatyj kolodez
A historical spring and monument located on the Don embankment. According to local tradition, Peter the Great named the spring after tasting its water during the Azov campaigns in the late 17th century.
Alexander Column
The Alexander Column is a monument erected 1894 in Nakhichevan-on-Don in Alexandrovsky Park.
Svatitel Dimitrij Rostovskij
Bronze monument dedicated to the 18th-century Bishop and patron saint of the city. It stands on Sobornaya Square in front of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Vita Cerevickin
Memorial dedicated to a Soviet teenager executed by German forces in 1941. The sculpture depicts the boy holding a pigeon, referencing the carrier birds he refused to surrender to the occupiers.
Don Batuska
A sculpture on the Don River embankment personifying the river as 'Father Don,' a central figure in Cossack folklore. The bronze statue depicts a reclining man symbolizing the power of the waterway.
