Samaria's Ruins and Forts

This collection features a network of 19th-century Ottoman fortifications, known as Koules, and ancient archaeological sites along Crete's rugged southern coast. These structures were strategically positioned to monitor the rebellious Sfakia region and the entrance to the Samaria Gorge.
