Seogwipo's Nature Gems
This selection highlights the unique volcanic landscape of Seogwipo on Jeju Island's southern coast. It features Jeongbang Waterfall, one of the few in Asia that plunges directly into the ocean, and its smaller neighbor, Sojeongbang. The list also includes Geolmae Ecological Park, known for its plum blossoms and bird watching, and Jaguli Park, a coastal space featuring sculptures and views of Seopseom Island. These sites offer a direct look at the region’s distinct geological formations and maritime flora.
Cheonjiyeon Waterfall
Cheonjiyeon Waterfall is a waterfall on Jeju Island, South Korea. Literally, the name Cheonjiyeon means sky connected with land.
SoJeongBang Falls
A 5-meter-high waterfall located 300 meters east of Jeongbang Waterfall. Its waters flow directly into the sea, and the site is traditionally used by locals for cold-water hydrotherapy.
JeongBang Waterfall
A 23-meter-high waterfall situated on a high cliff at the edge of the sea. It is the only waterfall in Korea where the water falls directly into the ocean.
Geolmaesaengtaegong-won
An ecological park restored from a former orange orchard. It features walking trails through wetlands, a plum blossom grove that blooms in early spring, and observation points for local bird species.
Jagulihaebyeon
A rocky stretch of coastline known for its views of Seopseom and Munseom islands. This area served as artistic inspiration for the painter Lee Jung-seob during his residency in Seogwipo.
Jaguligong-won
A seaside park featuring various sculptures and art installations. It offers open green spaces overlooking the ocean and serves as a venue for local cultural festivals and outdoor exhibitions.
