Roman Limes Heritage
This collection highlights the archaeological remains of the Danube Limes, a UNESCO World Heritage frontier that once marked the northern edge of the Roman Empire. Centered around the legionary fortress of Brigetio and the auxiliary forts of Ad Mures and Ad Statuas, the list features military castra, watchtowers, and an amphitheater. These sites illustrate the strategic defense systems used to monitor the river border between the 1st and 4th centuries AD, alongside the later bastion fortifications of Komárno.
