Syracuse Historical Gems

Syracuse offers a dense concentration of Mediterranean history across millennia. On the island of Ortygia, the 6th-century BC Temple of Apollo and the 13th-century Castello Maniace stand as landmarks of Greek and Swabian rule. The Neapolis Archaeological Park contains one of the largest Greek theaters in the world alongside a Roman amphitheater.
