Featured Caves

Taormina's coastline and hillsides feature a diverse collection of natural and man-made caves. This selection spans from the Byzantine-era rock-cut tombs on Mount Tauro to the marine caverns surrounding Isola Bella and Capo Sant'Andrea. Many of these sites, such as the Grotta Azzurra and Grotta dei Gamberi, are accessible only by boat or diving, showcasing unique geological formations and vibrant marine life, while others house historical religious shrines carved into the limestone.
