Tapolca Essentials

Tapolca is defined by its unique geological heritage, centered around the Tapolca Cave Lake where visitors navigate underground waters warmed by volcanic activity. The surrounding landscape features the dramatic basalt columns of Szent György-hegy and the volcanic butte of Csobánc, topped with 13th-century castle ruins. Tapolca Cave Lake

An unique cave warmed by volcanic action. The water inside is used for medical treatment and also as a means of getting around the cave.

Csobánc vára

Ruins of a 13th-century stone fortress situated atop Csobánc hill. It served as a strategic defense point against Ottoman expansion and offers panoramic views of the Tapolca Basin.

Bazaltorgonák

Towering basalt columns on the northern slope of Szent György-hegy. These geological formations, resembling organ pipes, were created by cooling lava approximately 3 to 4 million years ago.
