Historic Heritage of Tavira

Tavira’s historic center preserves layers of history ranging from the Almohad period to the medieval era. This collection features the Castle of Tavira, a fortification with Moorish origins, and the 13th-century Igreja de Santa Maria do Castelo, a National Monument built atop a former mosque.
