Tysnes Essentials

Tysnes is an island municipality in the Hardangerfjord region characterized by its WWII heritage and varied hiking terrain. The island hosts significant coastal fortifications at Reksteren Nord and Flygansvær, which formed part of the Atlantic Wall. The highest point, Tysnessåta, reaches 753 meters and provides views of the Folgefonna glacier. Other sites include the 1937 wooden Reksteren Church, the Bakkafossen waterfall, and numerous viewpoints like Ramnanuten and Steinåsen that overlook the surrounding fjords and archipelago.
