Scenic Parks & Recreation

Whitehorse's outdoor spaces offer a mix of geological landmarks, riverside recreation, and cultural displays. Miles Canyon features a historic suspension bridge over basalt cliffs, while the Chadburn Lake area provides access to freshwater beaches and an extensive trail network. Near the city center, Bert Law Park and Robert Service Campground offer riverfront paths and camping facilities, while the Yukon Arts Centre sculpture garden showcases contemporary regional art in an outdoor setting.

Miles Canyon Suspension Bridge

Built in 1922, this footbridge spans the Yukon River between high basalt cliffs. It provides access to a network of hiking trails and overlooks the narrow canyon where the river once surged before the construction of a downstream dam.

Chadburn Lake Beach

A sandy freshwater beach on the eastern shore of Chadburn Lake. The area is used for swimming and non-motorized boating within the 800-hectare Chadburn Lake Park.

Chadburn Lake picnic spot and trail head

A recreational staging area providing access to the Blueberry and Hidden Lakes trails. Facilities include picnic tables and fire pits near the lake shore.

Yukon Arts Centre sculpture garden

An outdoor gallery adjacent to the Yukon Arts Centre and Yukon University. It features permanent and rotating sculptural works by Northern and Canadian artists.

Bert Law Park

A forested island park on the Yukon River accessible by footbridge. It preserves natural riverbank habitat and features a short loop trail used for birdwatching.

Robert Service Campground

A municipal campground located on the banks of the Yukon River. It features tent sites, fire pits, and direct access to the paved Millennium Trail leading to downtown Whitehorse.
