Historic Dutch Windmills
Zeeland’s landscape is defined by its historic windmills, ranging from 18th-century smock mills to 19th-century stone tower mills. This collection features notable structures like De Hoop in Tholen, built in 1736 on old city fortifications, and the 1792 Stadsmolen in Hulst. These sites showcase diverse engineering, including flour and hulling mills (pelmolens) and gallery mills (stellingmolens). Many remain functional today, housing local shops or museums that preserve the province's industrial and agrarian heritage.
