Kerimäki Church

Built between 1844 and 1847, this Lutheran church is recognized as the largest wooden church in the world. Designed by architect Anders Fredrik Granstedt, the structure represents a mix of neoclassical and eclectic architecture. It is often referred to as the "yellow giant" due to its prominent appearance on a hill.

The building is a masterpiece of 19th-century carpentry, featuring a double-cross floor plan. It is known for its massive interior, which constitutes the largest church space in Finland. A unique architectural characteristic is the lack of heating in the main building, which designates it as a summer church.

While the church is a significant cultural heritage site, it is currently temporarily closed. When operational, the interior can accommodate approximately 5,000 people, reflecting its immense scale and historical importance within Christendom.
