This well-preserved Venetian-style city gate was constructed in 1567 as part of the defensive walls. It originally functioned as the main entrance to the city. During the British colonial period, the structure was repurposed and used as a warehouse.
Following a restoration by the local municipality, the gate now serves as a cultural center. It is used as a venue for exhibitions and other cultural events, preserving the historic fortification while providing a functional space for public activities.
