Founded in 1897 by Saint Simeon of Dajbabe (born Symeon Popović), this Serbian Orthodox male monastery is dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos. The site is characterized by its unique architectural design, as the primary sanctuary is built directly into a natural cave system located within a hillside.
The interior of the cave church is decorated with distinctive frescoes painted by the monastery's founder, Saint Simeon. These artworks are integrated into the irregular surfaces of the cave walls, following the natural contours of the underground space.
The monastery houses the relics of Saint Simeon, who served as the first monk and spiritual leader of the community. The complex remains an active religious site centered around its subterranean sanctuary.
