Built between 1571 and 1590, this historic bathhouse stands on the ruins of the 14th-century Latin church of St. George of the Latins. Following the Ottoman conquest of Cyprus in 1571, the site was converted into a public bath, blending its Lusignan foundations with Ottoman architectural elements.
The building is recognized as a significant cultural heritage site and remains the only original Turkish bath currently in operation in Northern Cyprus. It continues to provide traditional services, including peeling and massage, while maintaining its role as a functional bathhouse within the historic İplik Pazarı quarter.
The structure is a primary example of traditional Ottoman architecture in the region. It serves as both a cultural landmark and a place for relaxation, preserving the historical bathing traditions of the old town.
