This relatively inconspicuous complex of buildings is actually the center of Japan’s politics. It is the place where both Japanese Diet houses meet.
Completed in 1936 after 17 years of construction, it is undoubtedly an architectural gem. Especially worth a notice is the pyramid-like tower at its heart.
If this kind of thing interests you, count yourself lucky. Unlike most other Japanese government buildings, this one can be toured on weekdays, even without a prior reservation.
Mon - Fri: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
(Last admission 1h before closing.)
The visit is guided and the tour takes 60 min.
Individual visitors are advised to come after 9 am.
Closed on national holidays. On days when a plenary session is meeting, no visitors are admitted from one hour before the opening of the session until the closing of the session.
Free admission.
