Alpine Huts and Shelters

The Kamnik-Savinja Alps feature a network of high-altitude refuges, ranging from serviced mountain hostels to remote emergency bivouacs. Major hubs like the Kamnik Saddle and Zois Lodges provide essential bases for climbing peaks such as Brana and Grintovec. The area is also home to the unique architectural bivouac under Skuta and the traditional herdsmen’s plateau of Velika Planina, where wooden chalets like Planjava offer a glimpse into local pastoral heritage at over 1,500 meters.

Situated at 1,208 meters below the north face of Ojstrica, this hut is located near the thickest larch tree in Slovenia. It provides access to the Logar Valley climbing routes and the Robanov kot glacial valley.

Zois Lodge at Kokra Saddle

Koča na Kriški gori

This lodge sits on the sunny southern slope of the Kriška gora ridge at 1,471 meters. It is a frequent stop for hikers traversing the ridge toward Tolsti vrh and serves as a popular paragliding launch site.
