This collection highlights the diverse topography of Mauritius and its outer islands, Rodrigues and Agaléga. It features the island's second and third highest peaks, Pieter Both and Le Pouce, alongside dramatic coastal formations like the volcanic rock bridge at Pont Naturel. The list also includes strategic maritime vantage points on Rodrigues and the famous Maconde viewpoint, situated on a sharp hairpin bend of the southern coastal road overlooking the Baie du Cap.

Maconde

A rocky promontory located on a sharp hairpin bend of the Baie du Cap coastal road. A staircase leads to the summit, offering views of the Indian Ocean and the surrounding forest-covered hills.

Le Pouce

Le Pouce is the third highest mountain in Mauritius, at 812 meters. Only Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire and Pieter Both are taller.

Pieter Both Mountain

Pieter Both, sometimes referred to as Peter Botte Mountain, is the second highest mountain of Mauritius, at 820 metres tall.

Rodrigues

Rodrigues is a 108 km2 autonomous outer island of the Republic of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, about 560 km east of Mauritius.

Pont Natural

A natural bridge formed by volcanic rock erosion on the rugged southern coastline. The site features basaltic cliffs where heavy swells crash through the stone arch near Le Souffleur.

Agaléga

Agaléga are two outer islands of Mauritius located in the Indian Ocean, about 1,000 kilometres north of Mauritius island.

Saint François Beach

A secluded beach on the eastern coast of Rodrigues island. It is characterized by its wide sandy shore and shallow turquoise lagoons, serving as the primary access point for hikes to Trou d’Argent.
