Ancient Greek Archaeological Sites

The Peloponnese peninsula contains some of Greece's most significant UNESCO World Heritage sites and ancient ruins. This collection features the Bronze Age citadel of Mycenae, the sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus with its preserved 4th-century BCE theater, and the archaeological site of Olympia, where the ancient Olympic Games originated. Visitors can explore the well-preserved fortifications of Messene, the monolithic rock of Acrocorinth, and the remote Temple of Apollo Epicurius at Bassae, which uniquely combines Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian architectural orders.
