Slovak Karst Heritage

The Slovak Karst National Park features a dense concentration of over 1,000 caves, several of which are designated UNESCO World Heritage sites. This selection includes the Domica Cave, known for its underground boat rides on the Styx river, and the Gombasek Cave, famous for its thin sinter straws. The landscape is further defined by the 400-meter deep Zádiel Canyon and historic ruins such as Turňa Castle and the 14th-century Pauliner monastery, reflecting the region's long history of settlement and fortification.
