Arches National Park Essentials

Arches National Park contains the world's highest concentration of natural sandstone arches. This collection highlights geological formations shaped by erosion and salt tectonics over millions of years. Key features include Landscape Arch, one of the longest natural spans globally, and the 52-foot Delicate Arch. The selection covers diverse terrain, from the labyrinthine sandstone fins of the Fiery Furnace to the massive monoliths of the Courthouse Towers and the Windows Section’s large-scale openings.

Iconic Viewpoints and Peaks

Arches National Park contains the world's highest concentration of natural sandstone arches. This selection features prominent viewpoints overlooking geological formations like the 52-foot Delicate Arch and the 290-foot-long Landscape Arch. The list covers diverse terrain, from the monolithic fins of Park Avenue and Courthouse Towers to the ancient, solidified dunes of the Petrified Dunes. These sites provide perspectives of the Salt Valley graben and the 12,000-foot peaks of the La Sal Mountains.

Iconic Arches of Utah

Arches National Park in eastern Utah contains over 2,000 natural sandstone arches and unique geological formations. This collection highlights the Windows Section, where the North and South Windows form massive openings in a single sandstone fin. It also includes the 128-foot tall Balanced Rock and the massive Double Arch, which spans 144 feet across. These landmarks, shaped by millions of years of erosion and salt bed movement, showcase the park's distinct red rock landscape near Moab.

Best Campgrounds

These camping destinations provide direct access to Arches National Park and the Colorado River corridor. Devils Garden offers the only sites within the park boundaries, situated among sandstone fins near major trailheads. Along Highway 128, BLM-managed sites like Goose Island and Drinks Canyon provide riverside access and proximity to the Moab Canyon Pathway. While park sites require advanced reservations, the surrounding BLM campgrounds operate primarily on a first-come, first-served basis, offering vault toilets and fire rings in a high-desert environment.
