Historic Churches

The collection includes the island's main parish church, Santa Isabel in Sal Rei, known for its neoclassical facade, and the historic Nossa Senhora da Conceição in Povoação Velha, dating back to 1828. These sites represent the island's Catholic heritage, ranging from the vibrant festival centers in Fundo das Figueiras to the restored coastal chapels near Sal Rei.

Nossa Senhora de Fátima

A restored chapel located near the coast north of Sal Rei. The original structure dates back to 1923 and was recently renovated after falling into ruin.

Santa Isabel

Neoclassical parish church in Sal Rei, completed in 1856. It features a distinctive yellow and white facade and serves as the center for the town's annual municipal festivities.

Capela Santo António

Small historic chapel located in Povoação Velha, the island's oldest settlement.

São João Baptista
