Cassis Essentials

This selection features the core landmarks of Cassis, from the 13th-century château overlooking the Mediterranean to the limestone fjords of the Calanques National Park. Château de Cassis

A 13th-century fortification perched on a cliff overlooking the harbor. Once a defensive stronghold against maritime invasions, it now serves as a private hotel and landmark.

Port de Cassis

A traditional fishing harbor lined with colorful Provencal buildings. It is the central hub for seafood dining and serves as the primary departure point for boat tours to the calanques.

Calanque de Port-Miou

The longest of the calanques and the only one accessible by car. It serves as a natural sheltered marina and marks the trailhead for coastal hikes toward Port-Pin and En-Vau.

Calanque de Port-Pin

A narrow inlet characterized by turquoise waters and a beach of sand and pebbles. It is surrounded by Aleppo pines and reached via a 30-minute hike from Port-Miou.

Plage La Grande Mer

The main town beach located adjacent to the harbor. This pebble beach features clear shallow waters and provides a direct view of the Château de Cassis.

Port Mior Un lieu – la vie en or

A heritage site located near the former limestone quarries, reflecting the industrial history of stone extraction in the region.

Plage du Bestouan

A shingle beach west of the port offering views of the Cap Canaille cliffs. It is equipped with seasonal facilities including a snack bar and showers.

Calanques en Bateau (billetterie)

The official quayside ticket office for booking boat excursions. Tours range from short trips to the three nearest calanques to extended coastal circuits.

Provence Market

An open-air market held every Wednesday and Friday morning. It features local Provencal produce, AOC wines, lavender products, and regional textiles.

Clos Sainte Magdeleine Winery

An organic winery specializing in AOC Cassis white and rosé wines. The estate features an Art Deco building and vineyards that extend to the sea cliffs.

Hôtel de Ville

Located in a 17th-century former private mansion, the town hall features a grand staircase and a courtyard displaying archaeological remains found on-site.

Musée d'Arts et Traditions populaires

Housed in an 18th-century presbytery, this museum displays Roman archaeological finds, Provencal paintings, and exhibits on local maritime and viticultural history.
