Kemmuna Essentials

Kemmuna, the smallest inhabited island of the Maltese archipelago, is defined by its limestone cliffs and clear coastal waters. The island features the world-renowned Blue Lagoon, characterized by shallow white sands and turquoise sea. Historical landmarks include the 17th-century Torri ta’ Santa Marija, a critical link in the Order of St. John’s coastal defense system, and the 1715 St Mary’s Gun Battery. The rugged coastline is perforated by the Santa Marija Caves, a complex of ten sea caves known for natural light effects and diverse marine life.

A

Blue Lagoon

Probably the most beautiful bathing and diving spot on the islands. It lives up to its name with the cyan water and white sands.

Crystal Lagoon Dive Site

A sheltered lagoon with depths ranging from 5 to 15 meters. It features high underwater visibility, limestone tunnels, and a 30-meter swim-through leading to the open sea.

Torri ta’ Santa Marija

A 17th-century watchtower built by the Order of St. John to defend the channel between Malta and Gozo. It stands 80 meters above sea level and remains a prominent maritime landmark.

St Mary's Gun Battery

A coastal fortification completed in 1715 to protect the South Comino Channel. The site retains its original semi-circular gun platform and stone blockhouse overlooking the sea.

This diving spot has over ten caves - and each one is special. The animals here like to get fed by divers.

A system of ten sea caves on the northern coast of the island. These limestone formations are accessible by boat and offer numerous swim-through passages and natural light displays.

Chapel of Our Lady's Return from Egypt

A small Roman Catholic chapel dating back to at least 1618. It features a simple barrel-vaulted interior and serves as the primary place of worship for the island's few residents.
