County Meath Essentials

County Meath serves as Ireland's archaeological core, centered on the Brú na Bóinne UNESCO World Heritage site. This complex includes the solstice-aligned passage tomb of Newgrange and the extensive Neolithic art at Knowth. Nearby, the Hill of Tara marks the ancient seat of the High Kings, while Trim Castle stands as the country’s largest Anglo-Norman fortification. The region also features the 12th-century Cistercian ruins of Bective Abbey, the 18th-century Spire of Lloyd folly, and Emerald Park, Ireland's primary theme park and zoo.
