Dachstein Heritage Sites
The Dachstein region is a UNESCO World Heritage site defined by its salt mining history and alpine architecture. This list highlights medieval fortifications like the Rudolfsturm, the baroque Trautenfels Castle, and the ancient rock carvings of the Notgasse. It also features significant religious sites, including the 19th-century Protestant church in Ramsau and the Jewish cemetery in Bad Aussee, alongside Roman-era archaeological finds and historic administrative buildings in Bad Aussee’s town center.
Rudolfsturm
A medieval defense tower built in the 13th century to protect the Hallstatt salt mines. It now serves as a restaurant and observation point overlooking the lake.
