This collection highlights the diverse landscapes of Fontainebleau, ranging from the grand formal gardens of the royal palace to the rugged natural wetlands of the surrounding forest. Visitors can explore André Le Nôtre’s geometric French parterres, Napoleon I’s winding English-style gardens, and the unique 19th-century star-shaped canal system of the Mare aux Evées. Jardin Français

Designed by André Le Nôtre and Louis Le Vau for Louis XIV, this formal garden features a large parterre and the 1.2-kilometer Grand Canal.

Jardin Anglais

Redesigned by Maximilien-Joseph Hurtault under Napoleon I, this landscape garden features winding paths, a rockery, and a stream.

Jardin de Diane

Formerly the private garden of the queens of France, this space is centered around the 17th-century Fountain of Diana and contains several ancient tree species.
