Paardeberg

Site of a major 1900 battle during the Second Boer War where General Piet Cronjé surrendered to British forces. It is a significant military heritage landmark situated on the banks of the Modder River.

Spioenkop

A prominent lookout point and peak. Several hills in the region share this name, historically used by Boer scouts as observation posts during military conflicts.

Biddulphsberg

Site of the Battle of Biddulphsberg in May 1900 during the Second Boer War. Located near Senekal, the mountain features rugged terrain where British and Boer forces clashed.

Platberg

A flat-topped mountain overlooking Harrismith, standing at 2,394 meters. It hosts the annual Platberg Mountain Race, one of South Africa's most challenging cross-country marathons.

Nelson's Kop

A distinctive sandstone peak located north of Harrismith, forming part of the regional mountain landscape near the border of the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal.

Two Sisters

A pair of adjacent peaks situated near Nelson's Kop in the Harrismith district, contributing to the area's characteristic skyline.

Aasvoëlberg
