Grand-Bourg Essentials

Grand-Bourg serves as the historical and industrial gateway to Marie-Galante, defined by its 19th-century sugar heritage. The area features the Habitation Murat, once the largest plantation in Guadeloupe, alongside the industrial ruins of Sucrerie Roussel-Trianon. Visitors can explore traditional agricultural rum production at Distillerie Bielle or visit the neoclassical Église de l'Immaculée-Conception. Distillerie Bielle

Established in 1910, this distillery produces agricultural rum using traditional methods. The site features vintage steam engines and offers tastings of high-proof rhums agricoles and local liqueurs.

Église de l'Immaculée-Conception

A 19th-century Catholic church featuring a neoclassical facade. Built between 1827 and 1845, the structure serves as a central landmark near the harbor with a stone and wood interior.
