Himeji Essentials

Himeji is defined by its iconic 17th-century castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring a complex of 83 buildings. Adjacent, Kōko-en comprises nine distinct Edo-style gardens. On Mount Shosha, the 10th-century Engyō-ji temple complex offers historical wooden halls and is reached via the Shoshazan Ropeway.
