This active volcanic valley was formed approximately 3,000 years ago during the last eruption of Mount Hakone. It features sulfurous fumes, hot springs, and rivers. The site is famous for 'Kuro-tamago,' eggs hard-boiled in the volcanic springs, which turns their shells black.
