This selection highlights the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sambor Prei Kuk, the former capital of the Chenla Empire known as Ishanapura. Dating from the late 6th to early 9th centuries, these pre-Angkorian ruins feature unique octagonal brick temples and intricate sandstone carvings. The site is divided into three main clusters—Prasat Sambor, Prasat Tao, and Prasat Yeay Poun—showcasing early Khmer architecture that influenced later Angkorian styles.
