Natural Wonders

Ilam Province features a diverse geological landscape shaped by the Zagros Mountains. This collection highlights the 5-kilometer-long Shirez Canyon with its 200-meter vertical walls and the Dehloran Bat Cave, which houses thousands of bats across several species. Other notable sites include the multi-tiered Seven Mills Waterfall in Darreh Shahr and the dramatic horseshoe bend of the Karkheh River at the Khazineh viewpoint, showcasing the region's unique erosion patterns and limestone formations.

Drh shyrz

A 5-kilometer canyon featuring sedimentary cliffs reaching heights of 200 meters. The site includes the 'Minaret' stone pillar and evidence of ancient cave dwellings.

Ghar khfash

Located near Dehloran, this 256-meter-long cave serves as a habitat for thousands of bats. It is one of the few major bat-populated caves in Iran.

Bam aylam

An elevated viewpoint on the outskirts of Ilam offering panoramic views of the city and the surrounding Zagros mountain peaks.

Abshar hft asyab aylam- mrad abad

A stepped waterfall in Darreh Shahr formed by seven natural basins. The site is named for the historical remains of ancient water mills found nearby.

Gelalem Waterfall

A natural waterfall located near Abdanan, flowing through the rugged limestone terrain of the southern Zagros Mountains.

Ilam reservoir

Also known as Cham Gardalan Dam, this reservoir is surrounded by dense oak forests and serves as the primary water source for Ilam city.

Babo viewpoint

A scenic overlook above the Karkheh River, featuring a dramatic horseshoe bend and deep rocky gorges often compared to canyon landscapes.
