Caves and Underground

The karst landscape of Lika-Senj hides an extensive network of limestone formations, centered primarily around the Grabovača Cave Park near Perušić. This collection features the Samograd cave, notable for its illuminated chambers and continuous dripstone formations. The region also includes specialized geological sites like the Vukušić snježnica, a traditional ice pit on Northern Velebit used historically for snow storage. These sites showcase diverse speleological features, from deep pits like Jama Sladovača to the bear-named Medina špilja.
