Historic Churches & Cathedrals

Limerick’s religious landscape is defined by medieval foundations and soaring 19th-century spires. This collection spans from the 12th-century Saint Mary’s Cathedral, the city’s oldest surviving structure, to Saint John’s Cathedral, which boasts the tallest spire in Ireland. These sites showcase a range of architectural styles, including Romanesque, Gothic Revival, and Neoclassical, reflecting the city’s transition from a Viking settlement to a major Georgian and Victorian urban center.
