Lusatian Mountains Nature Wonders

The Lusatian Mountains offer a geologically diverse landscape along the Czech-German border, characterized by volcanic peaks, sandstone formations, and deep beech forests. This collection highlights unique natural phenomena, including the massive basalt columns of Zlatý vrch, the permanent ice formations in the Naděje cave, and the protected wetlands of Velký rybník. Zlatý vrch

National natural monument featuring remarkably straight basalt columns up to 30 meters long. The pentagonal and hexagonal rock formations were exposed by a quarry that operated until 1973.

Ledová jeskyně

A 30-meter long cave near Naděje where a specific microclimate maintains ice formations throughout the year. It is located in a structural fissure within phonolite rock.

CHKO Lužické hory

A protected landscape area spanning the Ústí and Liberec regions. It is defined by volcanic peaks, sandstone rock formations, and well-preserved examples of regional timber-framed folk architecture.

Velký rybník

A large pond and nature reserve that serves as a significant nesting site for water birds and a habitat for rare wetland plant species.

Heřmanický vodopád

A small waterfall approximately 4 meters high situated on the Heřmanický brook near the village of Heřmanice.

Jezevčí vrch

A national nature reserve protecting a phonolite peak. The area is covered by primitive beech forests and serves as a habitat for diverse mountain flora.

Komora

A small sandstone cave also known as Rauchfriedels Kammer, located within the forested landscape of the Lusatian Mountains.
