Castles and Fortifications

Mallorca's defensive landscape features a diverse range of 14th-century Gothic castles, Moorish ruins, and coastal watchtowers. This collection includes the unique circular Bellver Castle and the Royal Palace of La Almudaina in Palma, alongside remote mountain fortresses like Castell de Santueri. Many sites, such as Torre del Verger and Talaia d'Albercutx, formed a strategic 16th and 17th-century coastal defense system designed to signal the approach of pirate raids across the Mediterranean.
