Noboribetsu Essentials

Noboribetsu is Hokkaido's premier hot spring destination, centered around the active volcanic landscape of Hell Valley. The area features diverse mineral waters utilized in historic bathhouses like Dai-ichi Takimotokan, which has operated since 1858. Beyond the geothermal activity, visitors can explore Edo-period recreations at Date Jidaimura, visit the Danish-style castle aquarium at Marine Park Nixe, or take the ropeway to the summit of Mt. Shihorei for views of Lake Kuttara and the local bear park.

Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura

History theme park which celebrates the Edo Period. Enjoy traditional games and entertaining performances, such as ninja or geisha shows.

NIXE城

Aquarium housed in a four-story replica of Denmark's Egeskov Castle. It features a walk-through underwater tunnel, a jellyfish tank, and daily penguin parades.

登別温泉ロープウェイ

Gondola lift connecting the hot spring town to the Noboribetsu Bear Park at the summit of Mt. Shihorei. The ride offers views of the volcanic landscape and Lake Kuttara.

Dai-ichi Takimotokan

Historic ryokan founded in 1858, featuring a 5,000-square-meter bath hall. It offers seven different types of thermal water across 35 indoor and outdoor pools overlooking Hell Valley.

The park of Sengen -the springhead of Noboribetsu Onsen-

Public park featuring a geyser that erupts approximately every three hours from the hot spring source. It also displays nine colorful iron clubs representing the guardian demons of the valley.
