The Ore Mountains region features a landscape defined by centuries of mining and royal history. This collection highlights significant Renaissance architecture, such as the Augustusburg Hunting Lodge and Freudenstein Castle. It also preserves industrial heritage at the Frohnauer Hammer mill and an extensive network of 18th-century Saxon post milestones. Commissioned by Frederick Augustus I, these stone markers once guided postal routes across the Saxon Electorate. From medieval fortifications like Schloss Wolkenstein to the Freitaler Nase fountain, the list showcases the diverse cultural markers of this UNESCO World Heritage region.
