Historic Churches and Sanctuaries

Pollença’s religious heritage spans from 13th-century Knights Templar foundations to hilltop sanctuaries. This collection includes the iconic 365 steps of the Calvari, the historic parish church in the main square, and the fortified Puig de Maria monastery. These sites showcase Gothic and Baroque architecture while offering insight into the town's defensive history and local traditions, such as the Good Friday procession and protection from historic pirate raids.

This chapel is definitely worth the climb. You can enjoy some spectacular views from the top.

Santa Maria dels Àngels, Pollenca

Founded in 1236 by the Knights Templar, this parish church overlooks the Plaça Major. It features a Baroque interior and an 18th-century organ.

Sant Jordi

16th-century chapel associated with the Knights of Malta. It historically served as a place of prayer for sailors and a defensive structure against pirate incursions.

Santuari de la Mare de Déu des Puig

14th-century monastery and church situated 330 meters above sea level on Puig de Maria hill. The complex features Gothic architecture and defensive battlements.

Església del Roser Vell

14th-century Gothic church located at the town's entrance. It houses a 16th-century altarpiece dedicated to the Virgin of the Rosary.
