Quepos Unmissables

Quepos serves as the gateway to Manuel Antonio National Park, a 1,983-hectare reserve where rainforest meets the Pacific. This list highlights the park’s white-sand beaches, including the calm Playa Manuel Antonio and the mangrove-backed Playa Espadilla Sur. It includes historical landmarks like El Avión, a C-123 cargo plane from the Iran-Contra era. These locations offer access to diverse wildlife, including capuchin monkeys and sloths, alongside viewpoints overlooking volcanic rock formations and offshore islets like Isla Verde and Isla Olocuita.

National Park Manuel Antonio

Access point for the national park’s trail network. The 1,983-hectare reserve protects rainforest habitats for sloths, white-faced capuchin monkeys, and over 350 bird species.

Playa Manuel Antonio

Half-moon bay located inside the national park. This white-sand beach is protected by offshore islands and separated from Playa Espadilla Sur by a natural tombolo land bridge.

Playa Espadilla Sur

Located on the northern side of the Punta Catedral tombolo, this beach features a backdrop of mangroves and secondary rainforest.

Isla Verde

Small, rocky islet off the coast of Manuel Antonio National Park, visible from the park's southern trail system.

El Avión

Restaurant built inside a Fairchild C-123 Provider cargo plane. The aircraft was linked to the Iran-Contra affair before being converted into a dining venue.

Playa Gemelas

Two small, connected beaches accessible via the park's interior trails. They are characterized by rocky outcrops and a secluded atmosphere.

Isla Olocuita

Small offshore island located near the tip of Cathedral Point. It is a prominent feature of the local marine landscape.
