Røros Nature Highlights

Røros sits within a high-altitude plateau characterized by its mining heritage and subarctic climate. This collection highlights the region's diverse topography, ranging from the man-made slag heaps of Slegghaugan to the remote glacial lakes of Femundsmarka like Midtre Muggsjøen and Bolagen. The landscape features prominent peaks such as Stor-Gråberget and unique geological markers like Skåkåsstenen, alongside the high-altitude wetlands of Rauhåmmårslåttan, illustrating the transition between industrial history and pristine wilderness.

Slegghaugan

Large mounds of slag remains from the Røros Copper Works smelting process. They offer a panoramic view over the UNESCO-listed mining town and surrounding mountains.

Storvarden
